BMI and You

Go ahead and give the calculator on the side a try.

Your body mass index (or BMI) is a general indication of how healthy you are at your current weight. BMI is calculated primarily based on height and weight, but also takes into account age and sex. Anyone with a BMI 25 and over is usually considered overweight while a BMI 30 and over indicates obesity.

While BMI is a good indication for where you stand with your weight, it is not the most accurate measure. That’s where we come in. We conduct a body composition analysis at each of our patient’s visits. This analysis goes much more in depth then a general BMI and even breaks down your weight by fat, muscle, and water percentages.

If your BMI is higher than you would like it to be, we can help. Give us a call and we’ll set up an initial consultation where we will discuss how to lower your BMI to a level that you are satisfied with.

Underweight =  Under 18.5
 Normal Weight =  18.5 - 24.9
 Overweight =  25 - 29.9
 Obese =  30 or greater
